NGARU Long Sleeve Rashie

The NGARU rashie was produced in collaboration with Waiheke Island-based artist Rīhari Warnock that features his meticulous and striking two-tone line work through the sleeves and reworked Cold Wave logo. The NGARU rashie takes inspiration from the mesmerising flow of Tangaroa passing through Rimurapa (aka Bull Kelp), exploring the darkness beneath the kelp forests and the eerie feeling when their tendrils wrap around you.

Rīhari Warnock (Ngāti Manu, Ngāpuhi) has been fascinated by the natural world since he can remember and it has always been central to what he creates. Rīhari's background in tattooing pushed him to experiment with contrast, scale, and shape and has played an integral role in developing his unique style. Stemming from a journey of reconnection with te ao Māori, Rīhari's practice focuses on the natural world, remembering and paying respect to the species and taonga of Aotearoa.
